Leighfield is a one-form entry primary school and therefore has one class per year group.
Space and time are at the heart of a child’s education at Leighfield, and we seek to make the most of our small size and our rural setting. We encourage learning outdoors, with our EYFS, Year 1 and Year 4 children attend Forest School. We also have a beautiful Secret Garden on site where children can explore, build dens and participate in a range of outdoor learning opportunities.
At Leighfield we believe that all pupils have the ability to achieve wonderful things. Our aim is to ensure that our children are happy and enjoy their time at school. This is achieved by providing an environment where children feel safe to explore the new challenges and learning opportunities they encounter.
We aim to help develop creative children who are inspired learners, are considerate citizens, are independent thinkers, have curious and enquiring minds and are caring friends.
Our curriculum caters for the needs of all our children. We want our children to leave school with the knowledge and skills that will fully equip them to be successful citizens.
Our staff plan and deliver engaging lessons that are knowledge-rich and well sequenced for long-term learning. We have high expectations of all of our children.
We care about every child in our school. Through our strong commitment to pastoral care we strive to ensure that we provide outstanding support for all of our pupils and families.
Leighfield prides itself on supporting all children, regardless of their background or additional circumstances. We believe that a child’s potential should not be limited or pre-determined.
