Transport
Children travel to and from Leighfield in a variety of ways. Some walk, some are transported by car. Those who live at a distance from the school, in the surrounding villages, may make use of the schools bus service, the contract for which is currently held by Ausden Clark.
There is, unfortunately, very little parking space available at or near the School. We ask that parents do not bring cars onto the School premises at the beginning or end of school sessions as this would cause impossible congestion. At other times e.g. concerts, parents evenings, we ask that parents confine their cars to the driveway. If you are using Newtown Road for parking please park with consideration for local residents. Please refer to our School Travel Plan for full details.
What happens if buses are delayed?
In general the school bus service is punctual although there may be occasional short delays due to traffic congestion, etc. If, however, the school is notified of potential longer delays - perhaps resulting from mechanical failure or extreme weather conditions - we are able to telephone parents who have agreed to act as "contact persons" in each village. They are then able to notify others about the delay. If children have to remain in school on these occasions they are fully supervised by staff until they are either collected by their parents or are able to depart on the bus.
