School Information

The school opened on 9 September, 1968, with twenty five children, one teacher in charge and an assistant teacher. Since then the school has grown to its current size, with around 220 children and 10 teaching staff, 2 NNEB and 8 Teaching Assistants.

Set in beautiful tree-lined grounds and surrounded on three sides by playing fields belonging to Uppingham School, Leighfield provides a learning environment which is at once stimulating, pleasant and peaceful.

The school serves the Southern Half of Uppingham and a number of surrounding villages. Namely Belton in Rutland, Glaston, Lyddington, Seaton, Stoke Dry, Thorpe by Water, and Wardley. Some parents from outside the catchment area and even from outside the County also opt to send their children to Leighfield.
