Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

We hope you will visit Mrs Stephenson's class newsletter and Topic Web links below to discover what we are learning in Year 4 this term.  Take a look look at the photographs here and in the Gallery and Sports News areas of the website to discover more!

June 2017  Another busy month!  We have enjoyed learning songs from Oliver, Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and performed them at Oakham School chapel with other Rutland Schools, with thanks to the Rutland Music Hub.  Then we went on the Uppingham Heritage Trail to learn all about it's history and to sketch some of the  gorgeous buildings.  Take a look in the  photo galleries opposite.

April 2017 - It's been a very busy month in Year 4.  Look in the Music Gallery for photographs of our amazing time at the Recorder Jamboree held at Oakham Rugby Club.  Along with classes from two other Rutland schools we enjoyed some fantastic music making on a glorious sunny afternoon. Fabulous!

Thank you to all the parents and friends who attended our Caribbean Carnival!  This was a celebratory high point of our topic on St Lucia organised by all the children in class to show aspects of their topic learning this term.  There was music, drama, a cafe, smoothies and mocktails, displays and sports...something for everyone to enjoy.  Look in the Gallery opposite to appreciate the sun spangled fun afternoon!

February 2017 - We have been learning about Hinduism in our RE lessons and Mrs Hebditch arranged for us to visit the Shree Hindu Temple in Leicester.  We watched the Arti worship ceremony and had a tour of the temple to learn more about some of the Hindu gods and goddesses.  It was really interesting to hear the music and mantras - especially  the deep sound of the conch shell.  Have a look in the gallery opposite to view some of the interesting artefacts we saw during our visit.

February 2017 -We had a great time at the 'Keep Safe Club' learning about our personal safety from the police:

January 2017 - Hannah writes 'When Dr. Furness came in she put a USB stick into the computer and we all watched a Powerpoint.  The Powerpoint was about what the High Sheriff of Rutland does and wears.  She told us about how she became the Sheriff.  We all found it really interesting.'

December 2016 - We had a very exciting visit to the New Walk museum in Leicester and gained some 'hand on' experience with ancient egyptian artefacts.  Take a look in the gallery opposite!

September 2016 -  Years 3 and 4 had a wonderful trip to Uppingham Theatre - three children wrote reviews of their experiences.  Open the appropriate document link below to read all about it.
